Gina Sterk,
Vicar, 2017-2018

GinaSterk Crop

Gina Sterk will be serving as vicar (pastoral intern) at Cross through the summer of 2018.  She is originally from Duluth, Minnesota, where she grew up frequently camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors with her family.  She studied psychology at Coe College, after which she spent a year living in Mongolia and teaching English as a second language.  After her year abroad, she began working on her Master of Divinity degree at McCormick Theological Seminary.  McCormick is a seminary of the Presbyterian Church USA located in Chicago and physically connected to the Lutheran School of Theology, where she took many of her classes.  McCormick has a culturally and theologically diverse student body through which Gina continued to develop her passion for multicultural, justice-focused ministry.  She feels truly fortunate to be spending her internship year at Cross because it is so deeply committed to and engaged in living out the Gospel through its justice work in and beyond the church’s walls.  In addition to her responsibilities at Cross, Gina will also be living in an intentional community of Lutheran Volunteers during her year in Milwaukee, in which she and her five housemates will be exploring and seeking to live into their shared commitments to spirituality, sustainable living, and social justice.  In her free time, Gina enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and listening to music and podcasts.
